Submission

Submission Preparation


 As part of the submission process, authors are required to check that their submissions comply with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be rejected. 
  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format only.
  3. It is crucial to highlight what is new about your paper early in the email.
  4. Papers should be 3000-7000 words. The article should be approximately 7.000 words in length (including abstract and keywords. tables, figures, bios, references, and appendixes. Maximum 15 pages. Exceeding the limit may lead to an extra fee
  5. The paper should be written as a continuous expository narrative in an article style, not as a list of points.
  6. All papers should have an abstract between 150 and 250 words in length.
  7. Each paper should include keywords listed in alphabetical order. Keywords are essential for achieving better exposure for your paper; please ensure that your keywords are clear and accurate.
  8. Each paper should be in Times New Roman.
  9. Footnotes should be avoided. Author/s notes are acceptable (Please place your notes at the end of the paper before the references part)
  10. All authors are required to obtain Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID). Each author must register for an ORCID and include their ID when submitting their paper.
  11. Authors should include 4 lines of bio (concise biography in a paragraph format)
  12. Registration is required to submit items. Please register (free) Registration Form before submitting your paper in order to reach you on time.
  13. Authors should disclose the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in their manuscript and include a statement at the end of their manuscript, before the References list.  Authors should  read AWEJ’s AI policy
  14. Our journal policy permits only one submission per author/s per issue. Any additional submissions from the same author within the same issue will be declined.
  15. If your paper is funded, please add an acknowledgement statement.
  16. Authors should avoid self-citation unless their work is published in a journal indexed by Web of Science or SCOPUS. Additionally, they must reference at least two articles from the Arab World English Journal.
  17. We highly recommend that authors use only references indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). Both databases include journals that undergo strict evaluation, rigorous peer review, and adhere to ethical publishing standards. Citing Scopus- or WoS-indexed references will enhance a paper’s scholarly foundation, demonstrate engagement with recognised research, reduce the risk of citing predatory or low-quality journals, and increase the paper’s visibility on an international scale. Please check the references of your manuscript to confirm whether they are indexed in Web of Science (WoS) or Scopus. If they are not indexed, we encourage you to consider replacing them with references to journals indexed in these databases.
  18. Please avoid referencing any journals that are considered predatory journals.
  19. All references must include the corresponding URLs.
  20. All co-authors should review the manuscript prior to submission and agree on the authorship order.
  21. Please provide the biography (four lines in paragraph format), affiliation, and email contact information for all authors and co-authors.
  22. Declare any conflicts of interest.
  23. Authors should include in the paper the full title of the paper, the author/s full name, Author/s affiliation, address, ORCID e-mail address, postal address, and phone number.

Author Guidelines

  1.  The authors should read and follow the submission preparation guidelines above.
  2. Authors must also prepare their manuscripts according to the format given in AWEJ’s Template.
  3. The Arab World English Journal requires all research paper authors to sign the Transfer Copyright Agreement and acknowledge the copyright transfer agreement.
  4. The Arab World English Journal firmly asks that all manuscripts comply with the Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement.
  5. Authors should read and comply with the Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
  6. Authors must engage in the peer review process for their submitted manuscripts. They should communicate with the Journal editors and address all comments and suggestions from reviewers. Additionally, they need to adhere to any relevant deadlines.
  7. All errors found in the manuscript after submission must be communicated to the Editor without delay. Authors of published works also have the obligation to promptly notify the journal if they become aware of any part that needs correction.
  8. Authorship of the paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study being reported. All individuals who have made meaningful contributions must be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all contributing co-authors are included in the author list. The corresponding author will also confirm that all co-authors have approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication. The authors attest that everyone listed on the title page has significantly contributed to the work, has read the manuscript, confirms the validity and legitimacy of the data and its interpretation, and agrees to its submission to the Arab World English Journal. All authors concur that the author list is correct in both content and order. No modifications to the author list can be made without formal approval from the Editor. All authors accept that the Editor’s decisions regarding acceptance or rejection, as well as any actions taken in response to breaches of the principles outlined in the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement of the Arab World Journal, are final. No additional authors can be added after submission unless the editors receive agreement from all authors along with detailed justification for the amendment to the author list. On behalf of all co-authors, the Corresponding Author bears full responsibility for the submission. Any violation of the terms outlined in the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement or the Transfer Copyright Agreement may result in the paper’s retraction.
  9. All authors should include a statement disclosing any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Copyright Transfer Agreement

Authors are required to submit a signed Transfer of Copyright Agreement when their manuscript is accepted for review for possible publication in the Arab World English Journal. If accepted for review, it will not be submitted elsewhere while the paper is undergoing review. By signing this agreement, authors grant Arab World English Journal the permanent right to distribute their work while retaining their own copyright. Once the paper is published in the journal, authors may republish their texts, provided they clearly acknowledge the Arab World English Journal as the original publisher and the sole source for citation purposes.

Review procedure

The Arab World English Journal employs a double-blind peer-review system, utilizing a selection of appropriate reviewers from an international panel of scholars. Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process. The review typically takes between eight weeks. All research articles submitted to this journal undergo a rigorous peer review, which includes an initial screening by the editor and double-blind reviews conducted by at least two anonymous referees. This process often results in multiple rounds of revisions. Authors will be notified of the results via email. Our reviewers are expected to evaluate articles within eight weeks of the submission deadline for papers. As a result, authors can typically expect a response within this timeframe. It is common for reviewers who recommend acceptance to do so conditionally, requiring the authors to address any identified errors or issues. If this recommendation is made, authors will have the opportunity to respond to the reviewers’ feedback by a specified deadline.

Plagiarism & Retraction

We have joined Crosscheck, an initiative powered by iThenticate, which CrossRef started to help its members actively engage in efforts to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism.  When plagiarism is detected by the Plagiarism Software, the paper will be automatically rejected, and the authors will be prohibited from submitting further articles to the journal. All authors must read the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement as well as the Transfer Copy Agreement of the Arab World English Journal. Any violation of these terms may result in the retraction of the paper. The Arab World English Journal will adhere to the COPE Guidelines in such cases. Retraction notices will be indexed and linked to the original article. The original article will be watermarked as retracted

Paper Fee

Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) is completely free to read and download. It is funded solely by paper processing publication fees. Papers may be submitted for blind peer review without charge.
Articles submitted by a single author and accepted for publication will need to pay the paper processing fees of $635.
Funded Articles submitted by a single author and accepted for publication will need to pay the paper processing fees of $835.
Articles submitted by two or more authors are subject to an extra fee of $50 for each extra author.
AWEJ has a word limit of 7000 words (Maximum 15 pages). Papers exceeding the limits may incur an additional processing fee.

Note: The following fees are effective in January 2027.
Articles submitted by a single author and accepted for publication will need to pay the paper processing fee of $835.
Funded Articles submitted by a single author and accepted for publication will need to pay the paper processing fees of $1035.
Articles submitted by two or more authors are subject to an extra fee of $50 for each extra author.
