Submission Preparation
Please read the General Requirements
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
– Please read the Author Guidelines before you submit a manuscript.
– The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
– The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
– The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
– If the paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Processing Charge 400USD/article.
– Copyrights for articles published in this journal are retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the journal. The journal/publisher is not responsible for subsequent uses of the work. It is the author’s responsibility to bring an infringement action if so desired by the author.

General Requirements
- Registration is required to submit items. Please register (free) Registration Form before submitting your paper in order to reach you on time.
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format and should be submitted as e-mail attachments to the editor of the Arab World English Journal at editor@awej.org Please do not submit multiple papers in one email, as this may delay our response time!
- Papers should be 3000-7000 words. The article should be approximately 7.000 words in length (including abstract, keywords. tables, figures, bios, references, and appendixes. Maximum 15 pages. Exceeding the limit, extra fee will apply). They should be written as a continuous expository narrative in an article style – not as lists of points or a PowerPoint presentation.
- Manuscripts submitted to AWEJ must contain original work that has been neither previously published nor is it under consideration by another journal.
- All papers should have an abstract between 150 and 250 words in length.
- Each paper should include keywords (Listed in alphabetical order) Keywords are essential in search engine rankings. To achieve better exposure for your paper, please make sure your keywords are clear and accurate.
- Authors should include a cover page with the full title of the paper, the author/s full name, Author/s affiliation, address, e-mail address, postal address, and phone number. The author/s name should not appear elsewhere in the paper.
- Each paper should be double-spaced in 12 point font (Times New Roman) with 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Arab World English Journal requires an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCID is a persistent unique identifier for researchers and functions similarly to an article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI). We have signed ORCID’s open letter and are committed to requiring ORCID iDs in the publishing process for our journal. Each author should Register in ORCiD and send your ID with your paper.
- Footnotes should be avoided. Author/s notes are acceptable ( please place your notes at the end of the paper before the references part)
- Authors should submit- separately from the paper 3-4 lines of bio(concise biography in a paragraph format)
- All authors required to include a statement in their submission that the manuscript is an original work
Author Guidelines
All manuscripts submitted to the Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) should be original and not have been submitted for review anywhere else. AWEJ will not publish papers which have been previously published in part or whole.
Author’s responsibilities:
Authors of original papers should present an accurate account of the work as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to check on or replicate the work. Authors are also required to prepare their manuscripts according to the format given in AWEJ’s Template
Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication
The Arab World English Journal requires all authors of a research paper to sign a letter that states that the manuscript has not been published before, and is not under consideration for publication in any other journals. The author or authors should agree also to transfer to Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) all rights, including the exclusive right to electronically store, reproduce and distribute the contribution wholly or in part, including publish, reprints, translations, photographic and reproductions. (Transfer Copyright Agreement) Publication in AWEJ transfers the right to AWEJ to distribute papers, but authors do retain their copyright. Submission to an Arab World English Journal is taken by the journal to mean that all the listed authors have agreed to these terms.
Originality, plagiarism and acknowledgement of sources
The authors are responsible to ensure the originality of their submissions It is expected that the data in the articles will be authentic. Authors must submit only original works, and should appropriately cite or quote the work and/or words of others. Authors are required to send a statement indicating that the submission is original work. (General Requirements).
Authors obliged to participate in the peer review process
Authors are obliged to participate in a peer review process of their submitted manuscript. They should communicate with AWEJ editors and respond to all the comments and any suggestions of reviewers. They should also follow any relevant deadlines.
Authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes
All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the Editor. Authors of published material also have a responsibility to inform the journal promptly if they become aware of any part that requires correcting.
Authorship of the paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author will ensure that all contributing co-authors are included in the author list. The corresponding author will also verify that all co-authors have approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Author/s attest to the fact that all Authors listed on the title page have contributed significantly to the work, have read the manuscript, attest to the validity and legitimacy of the data and its interpretation, and agree to its submission to the Arab World English Journal . All authors agree that author list is correct in its content and order and that no modification to the author list can be made without the formal approval of the Editor, and all authors accept that the Editor’s decisions over acceptance or rejection or in the event of any breach of the Principles of Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement in Arab World Journal being discovered of retraction are final. No additional authors will be added post submission unless editors receive agreement from all authors and detailed information is supplied as to why the author list should be amended. On behalf of all Co-Authors, the Corresponding Author shall bear full responsibility for the submission. Any violation of the terms of the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement or Transfer Copyright Agreement may lead to the paper’s retraction.
Disclosure and conflicts of interest
All authors should include a statement disclosing any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
Declaration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies
Where authors use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, authors must disclose the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding a statement at the end of their manuscript, before the References list. The statement should be placed in a new section entitled ‘Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process.
Statement: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
Authors should only use these technologies to improve readability and language. Applying the technology should be done with human oversight and control.
Copyright Transfer Agreement
Submission and Publication Acceptance Agreements
- Papers submitted to AWEJ for review and possible publication will not have been submitted for review anywhere else and, if accepted for review, will not be submitted elsewhere whilst the paper is undergoing review. The authors of papers accepted for Review will be asked to fill out, sign, and return a submission agreement to this effect. The authors of those papers accepted for publication will also be asked to confirm in a publication acceptance the agreement that the paper has not been and will not be published elsewhere. Publication in AWEJ transfers the right to AWEJto distribute papers, but authors do retain their copyright.
- AWEJ’s applies the following Open Access copyright policy (a) The authors keep the copyright. (b) The copyright allows that classroom use is free, but other uses depend on the permission of the authors themselves. (c) The journal asks only for a licensee to publishing the article as the first publisher. (d) The author is obliged to mention AWEJ as a source whenever the author later republishes the article on other platforms.
- Authors should send the Transfer of Copyright Agreement. This signed statement must be received by the Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) when the manuscript is accepted for review for possible publication in AWEJ. Authors of manuscripts will assign the Transfer of copyright Agreement to AWEJ the permanent right to distribute their papers, but they will retain their copyright. After the paper has appeared in AWEJ, authors may republish their texts as long as they clearly acknowledge AWEJ as the original publisher and the only source for citation purposes.
Review procedure
After the submission deadline of each call for papers, manuscripts submitted to the Arab World English Journal will go through an internal review. If submitted papers meet the basic requirements of AWEJ they are sent out for double-blind review from experts in the field. Our reviewers are expected to review articles and return their reviews within 8 weeks of having received this. It is common for reviewers who recommend acceptance to also make this conditional on addressing possible errors or issues. If your reviewers make this recommendation, then you will be given the opportunity to adequately respond to their feedback by a required date. This entire review process will take anywhere between 3- 4 months after the submission of the manuscript. The editor’s decision is final.
Plagiarism & Retraction
When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker Software. The paper is automatic rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal. All authors should read the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement and Transfer Copy Agreement of Arab World English Journal. Any violation of the terms of the documentary lead to retraction the paper. Arab World English will follow the COPE Guidelines in such cases. Retraction notices are indexed and bidirectionally linked to the original article. The original article is watermarked as retracted and the title is amended with the prefix “Retracted article:”
Paper Fee
Arab World English Journal (AWEJ) is completely free to read and download. It is funded solely by paper process publication fees. Papers may be submitted for blind peer review without charge. Those papers accepted for publication will need to pay paper process fees of $400 (basic fee – single author of unfunded paper) effective on January 2023.
